Comedy Bar presents: The Writers Room Experience

Date: Sunday March 18th 2018
Time: 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Are you interested in writing TV comedy? Wondering what your next step should be? In this course we'll create a half-hour comedy show together, from premise to Pilot. Each student will write a few scenes for our final Pilot episode. In addition, I'll share valuable information about breaking into writing for Canadian TV, how the Canadian TV industry works (Canadian content, business model/funding structure, dealing with producers, broadcasters & agents, the Writers Guild of Canada) -- and more, including free laughter and advice on your ideas and projects.

The Writing Room Experience will hone your skills as a comedy screenwriter, expand your understanding of the collaborative creative process, and give you valuable information and advice about the Canadian TV industry. It's also really fun.

Saturday March 18th
Saturday March 25th
Saturday April 1st

12PM-5PM each week

Cost: $295 (including HST; payment can be made by eTransfer)

"Anne Fenn is a wonderful teacher... She's warm, intelligent, focused, and attentive - I learned a lot from her."
- Ashley Botting

"Anne teaches screenwriting with honesty and humour, getting to the gist of what students need to know. She was worth the drive from London, Ontario."
- Dominique Millette

"Take Anne's class! It's an incredibly valuable, well-structured, practical, and illuminating entry to television writing that demystifies the process and gives you the tools to write what you want. She breaks things down clearly and in an incredibly interesting way, and has industry knowledge to answer any question you might have. Best of all, it's a damn fun class."
- Grace O'Connell

"The writer's room class is an excellent primer on sit-com writing. As a teacher, Anne was organized and insightful. She was a font of information about the television industry, taught us the basics of writing a sit-com and offered advice and constructive criticism when it came time for us to actually write a sitcom of our own. Oh yeah, and she did all of this while being uproariously funny! If you've ever wondered what it would be like to work in a writer's room, don't hesitate to take Anne's class!"
- Tanis Fowler
